Q u o t e:
Its pretty weird how many NE players will go potm when they choose to abandon their bearstrat for huntz. trueshot may seem awsome but somehow ppl forget how crappy potm is:
potm does 13DPS lvl 1
DH does 28
an huntress does 14 DPS

For the potm to match the DPS of DH she needs 15 huntz! and thats before factoring in any ability DH might choose. Fx immolation (manaburn is generally preferable but since immo is pure dmg its ezyr to calculate) has an average of ca 2-4 targets (lets say 2) giving DH an extra 20 DPS, meaning there has to be 35 huntz- or ca 105 of allied and NE foodpoints ranged- for potm to match DH dmg. And they have to be alive, ie that has to be the average amount of huntz alive during the battle.

Granted it looks less bleak in higher levels, in level 5
potm does 22.5 dps
DH 38
but if we give both a claw of +6 dmg, 5 agi and a orb
its potm 31
DH 55
huntz will have a few upgrades
doing dps of 17.5-25 w the extra glaive. lets say 20 avg.
And immolation is now at 40
POTM needs just 11 huntz to match dmg w trueshot aura at level 3

BUT. The whole point of massing is winning game early, or at least gaining the advantage, and that will be considerably harder w a gimped hero like POTM especially when you have a boosted hero like DH to choose...POTM certainly has a place in large teamgames, but even in 2v2 she will not be nearly as useful as DH even w mass rax units. Best thing that can be said of her is that she's relatively ezy to keep alive since she's ranged and can run and hide and still boost units w her aura whereas DH needs to be in melee to add anything.

I think your neglecting the fact that although her base dps is low, she gets +10 dmg at level 2 from searing arrows, and she also gets her own true shot aura bonus. As your mentioned, she also gets the advantage of being ranged, hide, and her aura effecting allies as well.

I am by no means saying that she is better for hunts than a DH.... Id say they are even. The sad part is, Dh is better in every aspect at any other NE strat except hunts, and even then, its about even.
Ive always though that DH is imbalanced, on par with BM.
