Hello,
You're right about the new patch update. That's what has been causing the problems, I am not quite sure about why, but I believe that it's because of the new Warden Blizzard had installed within the latest patch (Warden is the program in the Warcraft III Script that auto-kicks bots).
Really, everyone has been having the problem, and I mean everyone! A Blizzard Tech Support had told me that it has a possibilty to do with firewall and Warcraft III, such as Warcraft III Battle.net seems to be a spyware program or something (Which it's not, just an example) And in order to fix that.. here's what he sent.
"With the latest Warcraft III patch, we updated the World Editor and how it reads map, this in turn caused a lot of Custom maps to no longer work. Before trying to join a custom map, insure it is compatible with the latest patch. I know Dota 6.59d works, but 6.61 does not.
The stats on the other hand isn't something we can reverse, so there isn't much I can recommend regarding that part. =(
The Disconnections can be caused by many things, if these disconnection started happening only after the patch, then it's a good indication the security programs on the computer although are configured, might not like the "New" patch version and are trying to block it from connecting to the internet. This is very common after a patch.
The easiest way to resolve it, is to go into the exceptions list for all of the security programs you have installed, and remove anything to do with Warcraft III, and then re-add it. This includes the War3.exe file, and all of the port information.
Warcraft III: TCP Ports 6112 - 6119 (All).
Some firewall programs have preset ports available in their configurations that are often necessary to be open. One in particular is a connection to your DNS server. This usually takes place on UDP port 53.
Please go to this link for more information on how to open the appropriate ports for your proxy or firewall: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21086
What do I do if I am still having problems connecting using a firewall, router, or proxy?
If you need further help configuring your firewall, router, or proxy you will need to contact the manufacturer for assistance. "
"When I was speaking about how the patch affects the security programs in the previous e-mail, it's the same thing for all users. If the customer don't reset the exceptions list for their security programs it can cause the hosting issues. When the hosting issues occur and you aren't able to connect to someone’s game, it will kick you out. Unfortunately when you are kicked out of a game, you will receive a loss for that game, as I'm sure you are aware.
The best and easiest way to resolve the issue is to uninstall all of your security programs and reinstall them. You can also try the steps below as well to see if we can simplify your connection and stop the disconnections all together. But keep in mind, it's not only you, but the host of the games as well.
The following steps are only temporary to try and find out exactly where the connection problem may be. It is used to simplify the connection and find any possible problems. If one of these steps works to correct the connection that may help to let you know to check the configuration or setup of a particular item.
If you have a router in your connection setup please try connecting the computer straight to the modem temporarily, this will let you know for sure if the router itself is causing a problem.
If you have any Security software please try uninstalling it temporarily. This will let you know for certain if there is an issue with a Security software blocking the connection. Most firewalls and Antivirus programs when disabled will keep blocking information so the uninstallation is necessary for most types of firewall software. For Windows XP firewall however you will only need to disable it because it will not be able to be uninstalled. If the game connects after removing the security software you can be fairly certain that the firewall was not configured to allow the current version of the game access to the servers. For more information about configuring your firewall please visit the firewall vendor.
Security software can Include a Firewall, Antivirus, Pop up Blocker, Adware, Spyware programs.
There are also certain programs that can cause connection issues. The next test is to close all background applications to make sure that something running is not causing a problem. We recommend running in a selective startup if possible. If you are not able to run in a selective startup, please try closing background applications manually.
Selective Startup:
For Windows Vista users:
Click Start and in the "Start Search" field type "msconfig" and hit Enter.
In the General tab:
1. Choose Selective Startup
2. Disable (uncheck) Load startup items
3. Click OK and Reboot
For Windows XP/ME users:
Click Start and select Run, then type "msconfig" and click OK.
In the General tab:
1. Choose Selective Startup
2. Disable (uncheck) Load startup items
3. Click OK and Reboot
For Windows 98 users:
Click Start and select Run, then type "msconfig" and click OK.
In the General tab:
1. Choose Selective Startup
2. Disable Process the config.sys file
3. Disable Process the autoexec.bat file
4. Disable Load startup group items
5. Click OK and Reboot
Close background applications:
Windows 95/98/Me:
1. Press the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time. A dialog box will display the active programs.
2. Close all active programs except explorer and systray, one at a time, by selecting each program and clicking the "End Task" button.
3. Repeat these steps until all programs except explorer and systray have been closed.
Windows 2000 users:
You will need to make sure that you are logged in as an administrator and that you have disabled all the non Default Processes - ("http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q263201"). Please use the link provided to view the list of default processes in Windows 2000, Knowledge Base Article Number (Q263201).
Windows XP:
1. Press the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time.
2. Select the Task Manager button.
3. Select the Applications tab.
4. Close all active programs, one at a time, by selecting each program and clicking the End Task button.
5. Stop or uninstall any antivirus and/or firewall programs you have installed.
6. If your system locks up, turn the power off (waiting 10 seconds) then back on.
7. Note: If your system does lock up or reboots you may need to contact your computer manufacturer to find out how to close these programs for your system. "
"Actually, even if you are the host and someone is near you trying to connect to your game, they won’t be able to if the ports aren't properly opened.
Also, some maps aren't compatible with the latest version of Warcraft III, so that could also be another problem. Do all of your tests with the Dota Map 6.59d as that map is guaranteed to work with the latest War3 patch. That way you can be sure whether it's a security program, or a map problem. "
Also, I must add, if you are conserned about this advice, I would suggest you just wait for Blizzard to fix the problem themselves, they've been getting plenty of complaints, and are most likely currently working on fixing the problem.
I hope what I said had helped!
Have a great Day,
Sam
