I used to think the same thing about Hell Difficulty in Diablo II until I took a really good look at attributes of even low level items. Then there's this little tale from the Amazon Basin:

It would be nice to have this resolved as it would give the players a reason to think that they care. It's one of the things that's turning a lot of people off D3. I don't get upset about it anymore as I have plenty of stuff to occupy my time if lag is too much of an issue. And nothing more than a guest pass is ever going to occupy my hard drive, and it won't be on any computer in this house.
Everyone and their brother wants to have a couple angelic sabers.
