No, it's not too late. They will most likely reveal the trade system in the next few weeks before the beta. If there are issues with the system, people will have plenty of time to talk about during the beta. Even if it's not polished when the game launches, they can work on in a patch.

They've said they want to go with gold as the currency. Let's give them a chance to make it work instead of making assumptions and speculations based on a different game.
