If you're using resources to do more than your audience can even comprehend you are increase the required resources players need to run the game for no benefit (ie you're raising the min and max spec's for D3 for no reason at all). Sure there are some cases like speed increases, but is it really worth making your entire game run everything 2-4x faster than it needs to just to make your small IAS or FCR increases more noticeable? No, that's a completely atrocious reason to double or quadrouple the min/max PC specs so quite rightly Blizzard isn't doing that.
Yeah, makes perfect sense. But keep in mind the real game frame rate can be capped to less than the capabilities of the engine, so it is not a reason for a more limited engine.
I was wondering, if Bliz was planning a console port, would this have have an effect on the engine they would choose?
