Q u o t e: The way Bashiok phrases these posts can get irritating (no offense Bashiok, but explaining a very simple concept as confusing is insulting to some), but the attribute changes make sense. I think it is a very good step for Diablo and ARPGs in general. There has always been a huge disconnect between caster and physical melee, and one is typically left behind. By making a global standard, the classes will be more balanced right from the start.
Balance > Name nostalgia
It has nothing to do with "Name Nostalgia" .. pffft .. seriously .. can't you even figure how dumped down and illogical the new system is ... not only does it remove secondary attributes (which added a lot of depth and flexibility to the previous D3 stats system) but also is inherently more confusing (even if it seems overly simple at first glance), illogical and bland.
EX: How the heck is melee damage for casters will be calculated if ATTACK increases their spell damage .. does it also increase their melee attack .. how much !!? .. how is that balanced (as casters will benefit way more from +ATTACK) .. does it have less effect on casters melee attacks ..how much less exactly .. and more importantly ... how the heck are players who are -supposedly- confused about the previous system going to figure all that out ... *FACE PALM*
