ehh, but what happens if your perfect uber axe of doom drops and you are a purist and it happens to have the "autopickup" stat on it?
An option that you can simply toggle on and off would be a much better solution. Have it default to off, just make sure that it isn't dropping items from my private loot pool into the public one when my inventory is full, and, make sure it only tries to pick up items that have dropped for me specifically, not items that someone drops for anyone.
The analogy to gold is a good one. It never makes sense not to pick gold up, and as long as items can be sold for gold, it never makes sense to not pick up items either.
The two exceptions are
1) your inventory is full -> in this case it becomes a series of inventory management choices, which autoloot would not impact
2) you are killing monsters that drop loot that isn't worth anything to you, or that you just straight up don't need -> in which case you would make the choice to turn autoloot off, and proceed as normal
They aren't giving you auto loot, I suggest you spend some time writing a script and hoping the security measures are as bad as D2's.
In the future I suggest you don't be so opinionated, no man wants to marry an opinionated woman.
