Q u o t e: If you are complaining about MF what about the increased gold drop stat? Is that a negative to look at also? Because it could still take many runs to collect enough gold to do gambling which is still a low percent chance to find an item of high value (or worthy of crafting - which by the way you could do without having high mf and still make great items of high value)!
So why hasn't their been an outcry for the worthlessness of the +% gold stat? You want everyone to be given equal chances of being given something. Simply put... that makes the game too simple. MF adds another whole dimension to it - even if it involves making a new character and using them to MF with - It adds to the length of the games life.
And you said you were FORCED to make an MF character? No... I don't believe the game requirements say "MUST MAKE MF CHARACTER" - You can play the game for the story, for the RPG elements and totally avoid the MF part and still have fun playing the game but you insist on saying it should be removed? Why? Because you didn't enjoy that element of the game? Well many people did enjoy it and continue to enjoy it to this day - so why would they change that?
No one complains about +Gold % because gold was worthless. If it was worth something, it would have been included in the OP.
The end result of MF is that it adds a loot factor that needlessly penalizes anyone that is not willing to specifically gear an MF character and farm loot with it. It's not a choice, it's cruel and unusual punishment. Diablo and every other ARPG is about loot, through and through. The only factor to getting loot should be time spent playing.
A common counter-point in the thread is that "MF doesn't matter, it just makes the gear you find better." I'd argue that that point is self-destructive, since finding better loot in a shorter amount of time is always advantageous no matter how small you claim the advantage is. As such, you are forced to gear for this advantage or you are impeding your own progress.
I'm not forced to get MF? I'm not forced to hit 99 either, or make a good character, or play the game after I beat it. Does that mean you need to segment the player base with an unnecessary stat?
MF needs to be removed just like Stat Allocation. Out with the old, in with the new.
My word is law.
